Hi Everyone!
I have never flown before. Anywhere. I’m the first person in my immediate family to have a passport - so I have no one for advice! 
I am planning on flying (alone) to Germany from Virginia, USA in early November, and will be meeting friends there.
My first question, however, is: basically, what happens when you walk in the airport to get on an international flight? What procedure do you follow?
I think I have a vague idea but I’d love any advice you all could give!

I would love to travel to someplace sunny, tropical and beautiful. However, for medical reason I can’t tolerate hot weather (humid or not humid). Is there anywhere on this planet that someone like me can go and enjoy sunsets, beaches and paradise. I’m looking 4 several things out of this question. You see, I’m traveling from DC to Roseville, CA, at the beginning of Sept via Amtrak. I am taking the Capital Limited from DC to Chicago & then the California Zephyr from Chicago to Roseville. I don’t have the $$$ to upgrade to a room, so I’m looking for any tips that you might have regarding what to take with me to make my trip a little easier.
1. What is the price range & quality of the food service on the trains?
2. Ideas on how to “freshen up”? What type of accomodations are there for Coach?
3. Entertainment - I’ve seen that there is entertainment on the trains. What kind is available?
4. What constitutes “carry on” luggage with Amtrak? Part of my trip includes Checked Baggage, but the longest leg (CHI to Roseville) doesn’t offer this service.
Any help, info & ideas is greatly appreciated! I thought about Greyhound travel, but on this type of trip, I don’t want to be cramped up on a small bus seat. LOL
